I'm blown away by the feel of the game and just how much fun it is to play online by myself and with my brothers. The leveling up system, replayability, variety of the missions, and the story have made it worth dusting off my DualSense controller.
Hd 2 is an amazing game
The community is the best
The devs are the best
After we won the battle against Sony, I hope that the reviews will be returned back to normal
Ultimately, Helldivers 2 boasts significantly more advantages than drawbacks, and what's most exciting is that it appears to be merely at the onset of its journey. Without a doubt, for those who have a penchant for this particular genre of gaming, there lies ahead many more hours of enjoyment than what many other games offer. The effort put into it pays off, as does the entertainment value. Immensely so!
Helldivers 2 is truly a game of the year contender. The gunplay and gameplay is excellent. The variety invites you to keep hoping into one mission or another. The difficulty ramps from fun barrel shoots to harried and hair-raising struggles on the edge of a knife. However, the overall experience greatly suffers when playing as a solo player. If you have a group, dive in to hell. If not, be careful out there, soldier, and watch your back. The bugs aren't your only enemies.
As it is, we would have liked Arrowhead Game Studios to have taken more care of the single-player component... On the other hand, it's a real pleasure to take out waves of enemies in a group, after having defined a plan that goes off without a hitch!
Helldivers 2 struggles to appeal after stripping out so much of what made its prequel memorable, and if that’s all that was wrong with it I’d be sadly grateful. Miserably, it’s such a wreck of a product that it spends significant amounts of time in a near-unplayable state while the rest of the time is typified by frequent crashes and other technical difficulties. You're supposed to expect a certain level of quality in a Sony-published game, and Helldivers 2 is a reminder that such expectations are naive as all f.ck.
Helldivers 2 is a good game and I can see why the major review outlets gave it high ratings. I could see myself giving this game 9/10, or even a 10/10 because the gameplay can be fun. However there 4 major complaints that I have with this game that prevent me from doing so, and most of these things are things that other action shooters that I've played simply do better.
Here is a list of my complaits:
1) Button combos for stratagems. IDK what were they thinking with this. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten killed or nearly gotten killed because I messed up the combo, or I couldn't press the buttons fast enough before a swarm of bugs got to me. This is an action shooter not a fighting game. All of the stratagems should be tied to an items wheel for quick and easy access. There's a reason why many console games make use of items wheels.
2) No jumping mechanic. Why is there no jumping mechanic in this game? And why can't you use the X button to stand up from a prone position like you can in so many other games? And why can't you mantle over objects unless you are sprinting? These aren't brand new revolutionary mechanics either, they are things that have been done in so many other games that I've played before.
3) No automatic reloads when gun is empty. Maybe this is just me but I would like for my gun to automatically reload when it runs dry. I can't tell you how many times I've nearly gotten killed because of this. In so many other games when your gun runs dry, your character says "Cover me, I'm reloading!" and they automatically reload. In this game they don't reload, and they say "Guns empty!" like an idiot. And also I don't know why they need to implement discarding ammunition if you reload a gun that is not empty. These types of mechanics are better suited for tactical shooters like Insurgency Sandstorm, not fast-paced action shooters like this on.
4) Terrible dodge mechanic. The dive looks cool and stylish, but it **** as a useful dodge mechanic in gameplay. Even if you do manage to dodge a melee attack from a bug, it won't take the bug long to close the distance to try and hit you again and likely succeed because it takes your character a century to get up from a prone position. A dodge mechanic like the dash from Control or Returnal would have been more useful. You'd think having a good dodge mechanic would be important in a game where you die easily.
These are my 4 major complaints and that's not even taking it to account the technical issues like the game crashing when you're in the middle of a mission, or displaying games that already full as partially full, and then when you try to join it gives you an error saying that the game is already full. This game has potential to be a 9/10 or 10/10 but I just can't give it that score with all these problems. It's still a fun game though.
It would be a 10, if Sony, the publisher, did not do the stupid stuff they did with PSN account requirement.
And even though they have retracted that decision, I am not going to give it 9 points (what it would be getting otherwise), because it is not okay to do the stuff that Sony did. And the only reason greedy Sony's c-team retracted this decision, is because players had to launch a major review bombing, not something that should ever have to be done!
When I first played it the servers must have been overloaded. It would randomly boot me out of games. And quick play would not work at all.Eventually when the game did work it was fun for only a short amount of time. The controls for calling in air strikes and what not was interesting but other than that it’s a very shallow game. I think the community and memes is what made this popular, because gameplay wise it’s very bland
