Misunderstandings abound in this ultra-lite comedy of errors. Physical pratfalls (think groin area injuries) get a lot of screen time. But there are moments where Mother of the Bride digs a little deeper, especially when it comes to Lana and Emma’s relationship.
The whole cast is likable and the scenery lovely, making this only the second-worst Shields beach movie, after “The Blue Lagoon.”

It's such a cool movie to watch and enjoy. It's fun and lightweight! I definitely want to see Miranda on Netflix again.

I loved this movie and the cast was great! I loved it when I noted that Benjamin Bratt was the father of the bride in this and matched to Brooke Shields was a comedic duo that was both romantic and cutesy considering the setup of this romantic comedy. I really enjoyed it and I think that romcom fans will appreciate the family dynamics along with Miranda Cosgrove and the younger generations' response to their parents within the spectrum of a location wedding! The antics are funny and it's a heartwarming and sweet movie that people of all ages can enjoy!

The film’s more nothingy than noxious: Mark Waters (Freaky Friday, Mean Girls) directs with vanishingly little of the snap he had back in the day.
It’s a slight cut above just how very bad these things can get, but not enough to edge it toward something that would deserve your full attention. So errand away, Mother of the Bride will be just fine playing in the background.
There’s only so much heavy lifting a picturesque location, photogenic bodies and enviable resort outfits can do to make up for a lame story.
Mother of the Bride is directed by Mark Waters (“Mean Girls”) with an apparent allergy to verisimilitude.
Like a magpie, it takes bits and pieces from better films and cobbles it together with some paper-thin characters into something that is a movie in definition only.
Não esperaria nada de um cara que dirigiu a primeira versão de "Meninas Malvadas", mas ao menos que fosse algo divertido, já que o já clássico filme da Regina, feito no início dos anos 2000, reúne os clichês do gênero e consegue trazer momentos icônicos e deliciosamente divertidos.
Já aqui, mais uma obra envolvendo sogra, casamento e amores passados, é tudo tão recliclado que o único atrativo fica por conta do belíssimo cenário, e se o cenário chama mais atenção que roteiro, personagens ou a trama em sim, é porque há algo de errado.
Então, temos o núcleo mais jovem, que irá casa, e o núcleo dos pais dos noivos, que revivem momentos e traumas. A bem da verdade, algo também interessante é a trama sair um pouco do núcleo jovem, mostrando uma vitalidade interessante para pessoas com mais idade. No etntanto, é tudo tão previsível e plastificado, com cenas tão higiênicas e pouco inspiradas, que tudo vai se passando sem agragar maior interesse ou emoção.
Para piorar, o núcleo de cosdjuvantes ou está para fazer um contraponto bem forçado ao casal, ou para tentar criar piadinhas. A cena mais interessante do filme, com os amigos na praia de nudismo, foi filmada com certa vergonha de mostrar os corpos, de modo que é isso que se trata o filme: sabe-se limitado, faz questão de ser limitado. Um filme que já parece datado, e não enxergou o potencial ali, não pela nudez, mas pela liberdade e pelo reencontro dos envolvidos.
Tudo não passou, portanto, de desculpa para fazer os sogros engrenarem um romance tão meloso quanto irreal. Pois embora o filme tente trazer vida nova e anos longos, o faz com os típicos dilemas da produção Netflix. Um desperdício.
Os noivos? Bem, aqui o casamento e os noivos são coadjuvantes de tudo, de modo que já sabemos o desfecho do filme antes mesmo de se passar 20 minutos da obra. A edição está longe de ser esperta. A parte técnica é bonita, claro, e o visual pode tentar camuflar mais uma história vazia diretamente do streaming.

When a line of love dialogue includes "You're the sun, the moon and the stars," you know you're in for a trite mess. Brooke Shields has the title role. She attends her daughter's destination wedding (another romcom staple), only to find that the groom's dad is her former beau (Benjamin Bratt). Besides being painfully predictable (I even said some of the lines as they were uttered), the dialogue is miserably mundane. Shields has never impressed me as an actor and this role won't change that. Her wooden delivery and embarrassing attempts at physical humor fall flat. Bratt, on the other hand, is effortlessly sexy and continually charming. In this genre, there's usually a wacky character to add some comic fun. Even though there were opportunities with the sex-obsessed sister (Rachael Harris) and the best-friend **** couple (Michael McDonald & Wilson Cruz), they're simply dull. The exotic location in Thailand has been seen before and to better advantage. Other than Bratt coming out of the shower, there's NOTHING about this film to recommend it.
