Nov 3, 2010Couple of days ago I played Seamonkey on a proper audio system, that gave me the biggest kick in a long time. This album has loads of awesome stuff, but prefer listening to Happy Birthday! But absolute worth it doing this one.

Mar 16, 2011You must hear this album and, if they tour again, see Moderat live!

May 15, 2015Intelligent Dance Music at its finest. Brilliant in execution. Thrilling in emotional breadth. Cinematic in scope. I will never tire of this album.

Aug 8, 2023Incredible first album by Moderat. Although it can at most times feel disjointed and a little bit too long to deliver the ultimate punchline it deserves. Still, it'll be an absolute blast for EDM/IDM genre fans.

Following on from a much earlier collaborative single, the first full-length effort pulling together Modeselektor and Apparat--despite a name that suggests a Depeche-loving rodent--has plenty to offer without entirely being a full-on slam dunk.
-
Moderat never combines as effortlessly and endlessly as that still-breathless collaboration between Apparat and Ellen Allien, Orchestra of Bubbles (2006), but it is alternately as enjoyable as seeing these two collaborate should be and a roundabout disappointment.
-
For one reason or another, Modeselektor seem unwilling to trim the fat and here again, are a handful of just-okay songs that probably should have been lopped off. Cut some of them and you've got a great record instead of just a darn good one.
